SAXON have officially announced their 25th studio album, Gods Of Thunder, due January 22, 2027 through Silver Lining Music. The announcement arrives with the title-track single and video, opening the next chapter in a career that stretches back to the late 1970s.
What we know about “Gods Of Thunder”
The album contains ten tracks and continues the band’s relationship with Silver Lining Music. Biff Byford produced the record, while Andy Sneap handled the mix. Its subject matter moves through history, fantasy and horror, as well as Celtic mythology and pagan rites — territory that fits naturally with SAXON’s heavy, story-driven style.
The title track serves as the first introduction to the album and draws its story from Celtic mythology. Released together with a video, “Gods Of Thunder” places the record firmly inside the band’s traditional heavy metal identity.
The next chapter after “Hell, Fire And Damnation”
Gods Of Thunder follows 2024’s Hell, Fire And Damnation. SAXON’s current line-up features Biff Byford, Nigel Glockler, Doug Scarratt, Brian Tatler and Nibbs Carter, with Tatler now contributing to the band’s writing process as well as its live and studio work.
The announcement also connects with the upcoming Gods Of Thunder World Tour. Its first leg visits the UK and Ireland in February 2027, with SAXON set to bring back the famous mechanical eagle associated with the Denim And Leather era.
Further details about the album, its editions and additional tour dates are expected ahead of release. What is already clear is that SAXON are entering another album cycle without stepping away from the classic British heavy metal sound that has defined them for decades.
