Four nights, fifteen acts and two dramatically different live settings inside the historic Fortezza of Rethymno.
Metal, atmosphere and history inside the Castle walls
Rethymno Rocks! returns for its sixth edition with a programme that refuses to stay inside a single genre. The 2026 festival moves from ritualistic ambient music and neoclassical darkness to speed metal, American thrash, Greek black metal, power metal and the dreamlike world of blackgaze.
Four days. Four distinct identities.

Wednesday · The ceremonial opening
HeadlinerArcana
The influential Swedish project returns to a Greek stage after 27 years. Peter and Ia Bjärgö will bring the group’s choral, classical and ethereal language to the Bastion in a set combining earlier work with newer material.
Vestigial
Giuseppe Ferillo’s project makes its Greek debut with a cinematic and ritualistic performance built from oppressive ambience, low frequencies and a constant tension between stillness and destructive force.
New Risen Throne
Gabriele Panci’s long-running project also appears in Greece for the first time, transforming themes of collapse, death and rebirth into dense, monolithic soundscapes that feel both physical and otherworldly.

HeadlinerMemfis
The Thessaloniki group brings its bold mixture of contemporary heavy music and Greek-language lyrics to Crete for the first time, arriving as Thursday’s headliner while preparing its next release.
City Kids
A tribute act built around accuracy, attitude and volume. Their work has earned recognition from Motörheadbangers and founding Motörhead drummer Lucas Fox, setting up a full-scale celebration of Lemmy’s legacy.
LustTone
The local duo combines prominent bass, melodic guitar, synthesizers and enigmatic vocals. Their Hill Stage appearance will introduce material from the forthcoming album Living in a Dead World.
Seih Sou
Rooted in the 1970s but driven by improvisation, Seih Sou blend classic and hard rock with psychedelic foliage, funk colour and stoner weight as their debut album moves towards completion.
Friday · Fire, speed and confrontation
HeadlinerSacred Reich
One of Arizona’s defining thrash bands arrives with a catalogue where muscular riffing meets political awareness, social observation and dark humour. The Hill Stage is set for an uncompromising headline performance.
Enforcer
Olof Wikstrand and company have spent the modern era defending the urgency, melody and danger of traditional heavy and speed metal. Their slot places classic steel directly beside American and Greek extremity.
Yoth Iria
Led by Jim Mutilator, Yoth Iria reconnect the early spirit of Hellenic black metal with a contemporary sense of scale. Their appearance marks the band’s first live performance in Crete.
Karma Violens
Approaching a quarter-century of activity, Karma Violens return to Rethymno after thirteen years with new material in development and the promise of a direct, physically crushing live set.
Saturday · From transcendence to the thrash party
HeadlinerAlcest
Neige and Winterhalter return to Greece with the luminous world of Les Chants de l’Aurore. Inside the Fortezza, Alcest’s equilibrium of black-metal intensity, shoegaze texture and emotional clarity should become one of the festival’s defining moments.
Tankard
The Frankfurt veterans bring decades of high-speed riffs, humour and social commentary to the Hill Stage. Their mandate is straightforward: no empty tankards and no passive spectators.
InnerWish
More than three decades of melody, musicianship and committed songwriting lead to the band’s first Rethymno appearance, with the acclaimed Ash of Eternal Flame now central to their live identity.
Druid
Formed in Chania in 2023 by students of the Technical University of Crete, the young quartet arrives after the 2025 debut Way of Decay, balancing melody, energy and extremity.
The Art of Matt Lombard
Rethymno Rocks! #6 hosts the contemporary photographer and digital artist’s first official exhibition in Greece. His emotionally charged work investigates memory, grief, beauty and the darker limits of human experience.
The exhibition will be accompanied by an exclusive site-specific score composed by iNsCissorS, connecting the visual installation with the festival’s wider sonic world.

The festival unfolds within one of Crete’s most recognisable historic sites. Its stone surfaces, bastions and open horizon give the performances a rare visual identity, but they also require attention and respect from every visitor.
Getting there
Parking directly beside the Fortezza or its entrance is prohibited so that emergency and production vehicles can move freely. Do not leave a vehicle near the Castle gate.
A paid parking area operates near the Venetian Harbour. Summer traffic around the Old Town can be heavy, so allow extra time and expect to continue on foot.

The Fortezza is a protected monument and an outdoor venue. These details will make arrival, entry and the festival itself considerably smoother.
Accessibility
A wheelchair-friendly vehicle transports wheelchair users, disabled visitors and elderly guests from the entrance to the event area. A ramp leads to a dedicated viewing platform. Wheelchair users and their escort, as well as visitors with a valid disability card, receive free admission.
Children
Children up to 12 years old enter free when accompanied by an adult guardian holding a valid ticket. No alcohol is served to anyone under 18, and identification may be requested.
Security
Bag checks take place at the main entrance. Professional cameras or recording equipment require prior approval and a press pass. Food, outside alcohol, glass containers, sharp objects and potentially dangerous items are prohibited.
Castle safety
Remain within the organised festival area. Do not climb ruins, approach unprotected edges, lean against bastions or enter restricted zones. The walls and towers are protected and may be structurally unsafe.
Bar and tokens
Bar and food purchases use festival tokens. Tokens are sold at the Token Point for cash only, with different colours assigned to product categories. Unused tokens are not refundable.
Merch and cash
The official festival merch stall accepts cash and card, while band stalls may operate with cash only. There is no ATM inside the Fortezza; the nearest cashpoints are in the Old Town around the Loggia.
Medical support
Red Cross volunteers monitor the grounds throughout the festival. In an emergency, immediately contact a volunteer in red uniform, a member of staff or medical personnel.
Re-entry
Re-entry is available with the three-day wristband, which must remain intact. Day-ticket holders who need to leave and return will be marked or issued a temporary wristband by the entrance team.
What to bring
Choose stable, comfortable footwear and carry a light jacket for the evening. Keep your QR ticket accessible, bring sufficient cash for tokens or band merch and arrive before the gates open.
